It is the ONLY program available that allows you to create WORD-SEARCH, REGULAR CROSSWORDS, and VOCABULARY CROSSWORDS all in a SINGLE PROGRAM. Oh, I forgot to mention, WordWiz also makes popular NUMBER FILL-IN and WORDFILL-IN puzzles as well. You get 6 different construction styles in all.

WordWiz is also perfect for educators who are looking for unique ways to keep students challenged and motivated. It is very easy to create crossword puzzles from any list of 10 or more (no upper limit) words.

WordWiz is available for Windows 3.1x/9x/NT systems.

All aspects of crossword puzzle design are supported including: grid design, clue numbering, word list management, automatic construction, clue editing, page layout, and printing or export to DTP systems.

Build your vocabulary as you research and write the clues for the words in the 50,000 word, fully editable, data base. Can be used to create puzzles for classroom lessons from your own word lists, or full sized Sunday crosswords. Also designs word-find puzzles and number fill-in puzzles.

Grid Design

• Construct crossword, word search, and number fill-in puzzles with grid sizes up to 31 by 31.

• Symmetrical grid editor: diagonal, top/bottom, left/right, and none. Grids can be square, rectangular. Odd shapes and cut out areas are also supported.

• Unique "Transparent Block" feature allows you to design puzzles in any shape.

• Grid pattern can be shifted, flipped, mirrored, and rotated.

• Statistical display of grid word lengths requirements vs. current word list population (by word length). See the distribution of word lengths for a given grid pattern, and check if certain lengths are being over-used.

• A powerful "cell locking" feature allows you to pre-place letters or words into the grid before starting the automatic constructor. This is perfect for seasoned designers who want to exercise a high degree of control over their creations. You can even bypass the automatic construction and design the entire puzzle by placing all words by hand.

• As you change the grid design, the words are re-numbered instantly and automatically. Clue numbers are displayed in the on-screen grid, and are printed in a scaled font on the finished puzzle.

Word Lists  

• A 50,000+ word list is included. Words can be easily added or removed.

• Create and save your own word lists (no size limit).

• List merge feature allows word lists to be easily combined.

• Word lists can be built from any plain ASCII text files, or the Windows clipboard, and added to any word list. Duplicate words are automatically removed.

Grid Filling  

• The construction progress is displayed on the screen in real-time. Watch the grid pattern (that YOU designed) fill with words automatically.

• Special randomization feature insures that different solutions are found (assuming many are possible) even when the same word list and grid pattern are re-used.

• The automatic constructor may be paused, interrupted, or re-started at any time. Start multiple copies of WordWiz and design multiple puzzles at the same time. Multi-tasking support allows you to switch to other applications while the puzzle continues to construct.

• "Instant Crossword" feature allows you to design a puzzle quickly (no grid design required) from any list of 5 or more words. Perfect for classroom lessons.

• Word-Search Puzzles, and number fill-in (logic) puzzles can also be created automatically.

• Up to 10 clues may be written for each word. Use them for different subject areas, difficulty levels, or even write clues in different languages.

• The clue database is independent from the word lists. This means that the clues can be retrieved for a word, even if it appears in multiple lists. You do not need to write clues for every word in the word list ahead of time.

• Clues are automatically recalled for the words that appear in the puzzle.

• Clues can be changed and re-saved at any time.

• Import new clues into the data base from any "word:clue text" ASCII file.

• "Re-clue" a previously constructed puzzle after switching to a different clue data base.

Page Layout and
Printing Features 

• On screen print preview and page layout are supported. Control the grid placement, clue column spacing, font sizes and styles, etc.

• Large puzzles can be formatted to use 2 pages.

• Use any of your currently installed True-Type fonts for printing and on-screen display.

• Export the finished grid image to the clipboard, or to a BMP or Windows meta file. Color printers and 3d block styles are supported.

• Clue text can be exported to the clipboard or to a file as plain text.

Safe Installation Policy:
Installing WordWiz will NOT
modify, replace, or extend ANY
Windows system components.
To uninstall, simply delete
the installation folder.
